Silver Lining In The Trash

Since the Christmas blizzard, no trash had been collected in New York City. As pickup resumed today, the Washington Post reported that a man attempted suicide by jumping from the ninth floor. He was saved by a “heap of trash bags” that had gone uncollected.

See? Just when you think a story is nothing but negative, there is a silver lining. As English writer John Heywood put it, “It’s an ill wind that blows no good.”

The article states that the man is in critical condition, and who’s to say whether or not he will see this outcome as positive or negative, but for now, let’s choose to believe that he will look at this as a second chance.
